It is my great fortune to have been welcomed into the Glendon community as a transfer student this past September. In my seven month experience, I have come to realize that this school is unique - the students are interesting and extremely welcoming, and the opportunities for personal growth outside of the lecture halls in clubs and associations make the Glendon experience truly enriching.

In this past year I have also come to realize that there are some real problems that need attention if the students are to continue to enjoy this place we call home. It is out of this concern that I have decided to offer you my leadership skills, to listen to your vision, and to do everything I can to make it happen.

From my participation in clubs and activities at Glendon as well as through my efforts to keep the GCSU accountable this year, I have also learned the importance of team work. The GCSU needs to work with the students as a team and it would be my honour to be a leader of this team.

As a member of Glendon's "Clean Slate", I want to give back to Glendon, represent the students, revive the bilingual community, and make Glendon into something that we all feel proud to be a part of. I am committed to giving Glendon students what they deserve - accountability, responsibility, and respect.

Work towards more open communication ...
  • Create high expectations, and demand weekly reports from council on goals and objectives.
  • Establish open communication between the President and the students through weekly President's reports on the GCSU website and a better relationship with the Director of Communications.
  • Work closely with the Director of External Affairs to reestablish connections with the greater community, bringing the GCSU and Glendon students' opinions to all relevant fora.
  • Adopt a policy of communicating all details of all contracts the GCSU might enter, with the Council and members(students) of the Union before entering such contracts.
Comply with the current constitution ...
  • Openly select an impartial speaker of Council and find appropriate training if necessary.
  • Commit to transparency by opening student access to GCSU records, especially financial records signed by the President.
  • Commit to meeting all constitutional deadlines for the publishing of documents.
  • Commit to bilingualism through a greater effort to communicate with the francophone community and a strong working relationship with the Director of Bilingual Affairs.
  • Work towards increased funding for bursaries through Friends of Glendon.
Look to the future ...

I believe that the structure of GCSU must be entirely revamped and improved. In a school founded to educate the diplomats and leaders of tomorrow, I know that we can create a better system of government for Glendon students. Our current constitution is not only filled with typos but fails to adequately provide checks and balances to keep the Council accountable to you, the students. I believe that changing and improving the GCSU constitution is the most important step towards finding solutions to some of our greatest problems. This is an opportunity for you, the student, to redefine what student government means and what you want the GCSU to do for you. I will:

  • Create a constitutional committee whereby all students will be invited to help shape and restructure the GCSU and its constitution.
  • Commit to a better relationship with Pro Tem, and an uncensored medium of communication between students and GCSU.
  • Reestablish an amicable relationship with the administration through more regular communication with them.
  • Represent the GCSU according to the interests and needs of the students.
  • Commit to a more environmentally friendly and sustainable campus.
