jesus bought a gun

i stutter as i'm muttering about how to seize the day
and my love of crapes and coffee at morning's break
well speech and impediments are all well and tr-true
but i dont understand how i'm supposed to love you
i say i do

caverns of mouths open wide before my eyes
swallowing pools of golden sugared waters in reprise
and these caves of stalagmites are mighty warm and wet
tongues lash back and eat away at my sweat my sweat my sweat
am i eaten yet?

birds flock
baptists sing
hearts can't walk
souls can't cling
my endless knot
it came undone
buddha's a scout club dropout
and jesus bought a gun.

i hum as i'm hovering over my cherry pie
its warm as south texas, its soft as golden rye
four and twenty blackbirds are singing on the sill
cats in the alleyway, cherried lips un-wiped still
i'm never filled

elastic fills my empty thoughts with bouncy balls of red
as my whole life falls to pieces rearranging in my head
if robin was an outlaw maybe i can rob the rich
and the poor will love me more, they'll love to scratch my itch
and i'll always be popular
and you'll always be here
and i'll never be angular
and you'd know how, my dear
you'd never fear

birds flock
baptists sing
hearts can't walk
souls can't cling
my endless knot
it came undone
buddha's a scout club dropout
and jesus bought a gun.

"En Francais! Maintenant!"

My French class is incredibly difficult for me to be in. Not that the work is hard, because it isnt - it's all simple conjugations and such right now. It's just that I cannot understand what the teacher is saying! My comprehension is tres... poor.

I talked with Gerard, my Egyptian roommate, for 4 hours yesterday. We talked about everything, from schools to economy to religion to the meaning of life. Quite engaging. And then we got in trouble for talking too loud, too late. This is the downside of having a 52 year old yoga instructor named Lucy for a landlady/roommate.

Dangeresque!

Man, I really like the CDs I got from Amazon: Modest Mouse (which I already knew I'd like), Broken Social Scene, Built to Spill, and The Walkmen. I'm too lazy to write out the titles too. Each of them is really excellent!

Today I packed for Toronto. All day packed. Autumn came over and was bored while I hummed and hawwwwed over what to put in the boxes. Poor girl. She puts up with a lot. But the apartment is looking cool. I still need to get a couch or loveseat or something for it though. I'm wondering if a couch will fit in our van though. Could be dangerous. Wait, no... could be dangeresque!

home again home

We're back in Brantford! After the Fredericton show we drove straight to Montreal - a long, long drive - and then hung out there for the afternoon. We slept in Ottawa at the house of a kind girl named Jackie, and made our way to the Brampton show the next day. It's nice to have a bed to sleep in, to see my family and friends again... Yesterday Autumn and I went to the wedding of my Heritage College friends Jared Hissa and Katie Milmine, and that was, well, boring. But I was very happy for them! Jared's the craziest guitarist you'll ever meet. Great riffs, he's obsessed with prog/metal stuff though, which I'm not too keen on.

Saw Passion of the Christ tonight for the first time. Wasn't terribly impressed. It was somewhat impacting, I suppose, but it seemed too statuesque a lot of the time, as if they were trying to mimic renaissance paintings of the life of Christ. Some things were very well done in it though. I think "Miracle Maker" still holds my vote for best Jesus film though.
